Today was one of those perfect days in paradise that you sometimes have. Perfect weather, perfect clear blue water, perfect place!
For those of you that have not been to Morton Island yet, your missing out, like we have done for the past 17 years. We took a simple one day trip via ferry to Tangalooma resort, but we took the wrong ferry for a visit to the resort. The ferry we took is mainly for vehicles which drops you off almost 2klm from the resort. Not to far if you don't have a pram and a few heavy bags, plus a 2 year old. Lucky for us a nice guy gave us a lift to the resort in his 4x4. The Ferry we took was called the Mi Cat and is an extremely comfortable smooth ride, with plenty of great place to sit, in or out of the sun and wind, The Mi Cat is perfect if your taking your 4x4 over, and they have some great one day adventure packages for those who don't have a 4x4. On our next visit we will take the Tangalooma Flyer which cost $40 per adult return trip, it takes you right to the resort. You get free use of both swimming pools, but why waste your time swimming in a pool when you have the perfect beach right in front of you. The water is so clear and clean you can see little schools of fish swimming around as you stir up the sand. If you don't like sitting on the sand after swimming you can sit under one of hundreds of palm trees on green manicured lawn. There is plenty to do here at Tangalooma, Parasailing, kayaking, hire a runabout for $20 per hour, or a 4x4, or even a quad bike tour. But we chose just to enjoy the beautiful beach and swim.
The resort is on the bay side, so the water is calm, perfect for kids to play. You would have to travel over the other side of the Island for the ocean and surf, and sharks!
Our ferry left Morton Island at 3.30pm. It was such a nice peaceful trip home as Colby took his afternoon nap in his pram.
We look forward to booking a longer stay next time in one of the resort villa's, which overlook to beach and bay.
